FAQs

Gowns

Can I try on your gowns in any stores?

At the moment, CJB is available to try on at the flagship studio only in Austin, TX.

Where are CJB gowns made?

Christian Joy Bridal gowns are made in-house in Austin, TX, from fabrics hand-sourced in Houston, Dallas, and New York City.

Okay, I chose a dress. Now what?

We will take 18-30 different measurements in order to create your dress patterns specific to your body. We will schedule 3-4 fittings (depending on the dress) to ensure we are creating a perfectly fit and proportionate gown to you.

How much do your gowns cost?

Our gowns start at $4,000.

How far in advance should I buy my dress?

We recommend at least 6 months before your big day or bridal portraits. Any sooner and rush charges may apply.

Any tips for my appointment?

1) Limit your entourage. We love the people you love, but there is such a thing as “too many cooks in the kitchen.”

2) Bring any shape wear or shoes that you love and feel comfortable in!

Veils

Can I try on your veils in any stores?

At the moment, CJB is available for try on at the flagship studio only in Austin, TX. Our online shop is open 24/7!

How far in advance should I place a veil order?

Veils and accessories take 6-10 weeks to be made. Check each item’s product description for exact times. Once the order is shipped, we usually buffer another 2 weeks (better to be safe than sorry).

If you make my gown, do you have to make my veil as well?

Absolutely not! We can dress you head-to-toe, or just one or the other.

Custom

How far in advance should I inquire about a custom gown?

We recommend at least 6 months out to inquire about a custom gown. Keep in mind that the custom process requires a few more fittings than buying a gown in store.

What is the goal of custom?

The goal of a custom gown or veil is collaborating to create something completely unique to you (no knock-offs)! This is a work of art — dream big!

What is the best way to manage cost when doing custom work?

As far as gowns go, we recommend your budget should be no less than $3,500 to ensure that we can maximize quality of fabrics, fit, and style for you and your gown. However, I work with brides (on both veils and gowns) to ensure we don’t go over budget. It can mean less lace, beading etc. for length, or vice versa. Rest assured, no bride I have worked with has ever had to compromise her overall vision for budget.

Any tips for my custom gown or veil consultation?

1) Limit your entourage. We love the people you love, but there is such a thing as “too many cooks in the kitchen.”

2) Do your homework…or don’t! You can come with all the perfectly curated Pinterest boards, or you can show up at our door with NO clue what you want.

We’ll guide you the rest of the way.

What does the custom process look like?

How it works:

C.J. will meet with you and go over your bridal vision. This is the time to dream! Together you’ll discuss fabrics, potentially try on sample pieces, and begin to sketch a design.

Once the design has been finalized, about 18-30 different measurements will be taken to ensure your patterns are made proportionate to you.

A muslin (unbleached cotton) mock-up will be made, and we’ll do a fitting to make any changes to the patterns. Once we’ve perfected the muslin, we’ll cut into the real fabric!

After that, about three fittings will take place to ensure we are on the right track all the way to the finish line.

How far in advance should I inquire about a custom gown?

We recommend at least 6-8 months before your big day or bridal portraits. Any sooner and rush charges may apply.
